Floating FAQ’s

Floating FAQ’s

Feel free to use any of these FAQ’s and to adjust and update them. They cover the most important concerns floaters had, and I had 😉, while visiting my centre.

HOW OFTEN CAN I FLOAT

Floating can be done daily, there is no limit. You will find that the effect of floating will increase each time you float.

It is recommended to float three times within one month to really connect with the float experience. You let go and become immersed in the time- and spaceless journey floating is meant to be: an experience without any limits.

CLAUSTROFOBIA

The light in the tank stays on for a while and can be turned on permanently if desired. It can be operated at any time. There is an alarm button. The door has no lock and can be left opened. The light in the room can be left on. The floatation room has a permanent ventilation system.

Anxiety is studied and proven to decrease during floating. After 10 minutes floating evokes a feeling of expansion, space, freedom. If you have any doubts, just challenge yourself and discover!

MENSTRUAL PERIODS

In case of menstruation, the same protection should be used as when swimming. In case of a heavy menstruation it is recommended not to float.

PREGNANCY

Floating is ideal up to the eighth month, unless the doctor advises against it. Usually the same conditions apply as for swimming.

SHAVING AND WAXING

It is recommended not to shave on the day of floating and to leave two days between waxing. The effect of the salt will be felt strongly during the first few minutes but will disappear.

CONTACT LENSES

It is possible to float with contact lenses. Lens product and a lens container are provided in case you want to take them out.

HAIR COLOUR

Recently colored hair should not come off when showering so that the float water and towels do not color. The magnesium water in itself has no effect on hair coloring.

SUNBED AND TANNING WITHOUT SUN

It is recommended to wait two days after these treatments.

TATTOOS

It is best to wait 4 to 6 weeks until the wound has completely healed. A recently placed small tattoo can be sealed beforehand. Water has no influence on a tattoo.

HIGH/LOW BLOOD PRESSURE

Floating lowers the blood pressure. People with low blood pressure are advised not to stand up immediately after the session. Sitting up straight for a while, standing up slowly and taking a lukewarm shower (not hot, not cold) will avoid dizziness.

WOUNDS

Small wounds (scratches, etc.) can be felt strongly during the first few minutes, but this disappears quickly. Petroleum jelly is available to seal them. Larger wounds should be taped in advance with a waterproof adhesive or wait until they have healed.

INJURIES

Sprains, strains, overexertion due to sports or work are no problem as long as there are no open wounds, unless you can seal them. Floating has a relieving effect on injuries.

SKIN PROBLEMS

For serious skin problems and open wounds it is recommended not to float but to use Epsom salts at home in the bath or shower. The pure magnesium supports and relieves acne, psoriasis and eczema.

SENSITIVE SKIN, SENSITIVE AREAS

Occasionally, the water causes itching and irritation in sensitive skin and intimate areas. If this persists, we recommend ending the session and rinsing the irritated skin thoroughly under the shower.

BACK PROBLEMS, PROBLEMS WITH MUSCLES, JOINTS AND NERVOUS SYSTEM

If it is not possible to get in and out of the pool on your own, you should be accompanied. Floating has a special relieving effect on hernia and other chronic pains.

MEDICAL SUPERVISION

Are you under medical supervision? First ask your doctor if it is possible to float. In general floating is possible if swimming is allowed, but in case of epilepsy or kidney problems it is not recommended to float, because of the high magnesium content.

DISABLED PERSONS

The floatation room is located on the ground floor, accessible for wheelchairs. The float tank has a seat and solid handles on the inside to get in and out.
